Thread: Reverting to 1.0.6b

    Confused
I tried to get the Beta 1.07b patch by setting Steam to Beta, restating it and the game but it still shows 1.06 bottom right, and I've lost Zen Garden.
So I remove the Steam Beta setting, downgrade that and restart the game again, still 1.06 and still no Zen Garden ...

Hmmm, you sure you didn't accidentally click on 1.06b in the beta dropdown? it has both 6 and 7 in that dropdown.. - I just did a test and reloaded/updated to 7 and it showed as 7...

Yes you're right, went back through the process and I'd done just that. Now back on 1.07b and all seems to be working fine

I've had no problems with either version, but then I'm not a big fan of mods so it's no surprise.

Now we see the down side of mods. Every time you release a new version, now you have to check it against 15,000+ mods and every permutation that anyone might use of those mods. That's billions of test cases right there.

You're already releasing a game on multiple platforms and all those platforms each have millions of different possible configurations that you have to test against. And that's without taking any mods into consideration.

You just can't roll back a patch like this every time it doesn't work for a bunch of people, and especially with only 13 employees at the company plus also have some of them work on the "next" game title too. I don't see how this is going to be sustainable for the long run. You're trying to please too many people with too few resources.

    Hey Moo,

That's great, but what about people like me who 1.06b made the game. Is there away I can get the 1.05 version even if I can't update in the future?, Thanks

Well, it should be obvious from the start that mod compatibility is not guaranteed after patching the game. I think CO should make that clearer. Mods are used at everyone's own risk. Maybe some are not aware of that.

EDIT: Just read in another thread that even people without mods are affected.

If it stops working for a small amount of users then a rollback might not be the best idea. This case, though, seemed to be... well... pretty much 90%+ of all Windows users.

I just noticed that reverting back to 1.0.6b deleted my Zen Garden. Someone else has this problem too?

The zen garden was included in the 1.07b (because some people did not get their keys for it CO included it in the 1.07 for everyone...). When we'll get our 1.07 back everything will be zen again
