Well, it's not even uncommon to have Prussia, NGF, Bavaria and Austria as Great Powers simultaneously. Those germans are nuts.

Also: Justificating a Conquest War against Korea. On Day 2 I get the 25% Justification Boost. On day 3 I get 21 Infamy. Yeah, thanks a lot. I really hate that system.

Just started my first play as USA. Not sure if this is from vanilla House Divided or the NNM, but THE POPUPS. Copperheads, Anti-Slavery Society, Southern Bell, Knights of the Round Table, Fugitive slave, Abolitionist pamphlets. The fact that I even remember all these (and I bet I forgot some) is telling. It's 1863 and I've been getting at least 20 popups a month. Makes the game damn near unplayable. I just want the Civil War to trigger so I can watch the days tick by smoothly.

I want to shoot myself. Never playing as USA again.

Yeah, the US suffers a bit from event spam in Vanilla. If you want to play as the US you should get PDM or any mod based on it. It fixes the event spam issues. (Or you could extract the Civil War events from that mod and use it in your own play through).

Anti-Manchu Sentiment. That god-horrible event spam that makes Chinese people revolt and the Chinese Empire irritating to play until Taiping Rebellion (which sometimes doesn't trigger, resulting in everlasting event spam).

And the fact that they made China a Manchu culture country. So even if you are a freedom-loving Republic of China, or Han-chauvenist PRC of today, 90% of your population will hate your guts because they are Beifaren/Nanfaren and your primary culture is not. Just one of the silliest and nonsensical game mechanics in Victoria II.

Don't even get me started on Age of Liberalism and Springtime of Nations events though. I was literally getting stupid Banquet Campaign event EVERY FRIGGIN DAY in many games.

I've got a Two Sicilies game running at the moment. I'm in 9th position with a nice little stretch of Egypt and Tunis within my empire but I cannot for the life of me hike up to eighth. I've humiliated Yemen and Hedjaz, battered an alliance of Ottomans and Prussians and researched every prestige tech I can. My military and industry is maxed out and both are quire healthy but I just cannot get that hallowed place on the world stage. :P

That is not your goal. Your goal is to conquer the boot and create a new Roman Empire. Can you do that?

Well no. I can't fight a war against France and Austria through military might. So I will go via a diplomatic route, i.e. sphering the rest of Italy. To do that I need to consolidate a position in the top eight.

I forgot to screenshot it but I had a quadruple Communist rebellion across my entire German Empire (most of East and West Africa and Indonesia including Germany) by the end there were 6M rebels parading around my nation. My army disintegrated, by industry crashed, prestige was reduced drastically and to top it all off France DOW on me to take Alsance-Lorraine and England took Heligoland. I dropped like a stone from 1st to 4th and I just got back to first, almost 50 years later.

Jacobsin rebel hell in my USA. I've abandoned many games because of rebel spam. So many rebels they destroy my nation, my economy, and defeat my military so they enact their changes. Then the other group hates the new government so they rebel and I haven't had the time or industry to support rebuilding my military just yet so I can't defeat them, nor make any progress on aleviating their grievances. Downward spiral, difficult to deal with.

My recent game I focused on getting a huge military and it has certaintly helped in slicing through the rebels. I've got to watch WE more closely.

    2. Work your way towards rank 7 (wants to be GP to form Italy)
    3. Fractured Italy (Papal states, Sardinia-Piedmont and the minors still around and low ranked)
    4. Out of the blue, formation of Italy
    5. Italy allied with France, DOWed to get its cores back
    6. Ragequit

And the usual DOW some random uncivilized; uncivilized get friendly with a GP during the war and decides to intervene...

When managing a huge sphere and just as you're about to click on a sphereling and ban another GP then someone else stops influencing and it jumps around all over the screen.

Playing as France, minding my own business mostly focusing on economy and preparing for colonization. I pick some north Africa fights to keep me amused and get ready for Suez.

I sphere Morocco, Tunis, Algeria, sphere and ally Belgium, Netherlands, Papal States, Switzerland, Sardinia-Piedmont and have a seperate alliance with Russia.

Things are going pretty swell, my army is in good condition, my budget is doing awesome, my people are content and I have practically no infamy.

I get a cut-down to size CB against Yemen, and since I haven't had a fight in a while I figure, why not? I send my navy with an army to Yemen and start to mess them up. A fun little war.

Suddenly, the Northern German Federation forms, allies GB and Spain then declares war for Alsace-Lorraine. ALL my allies bail (seriously, all of them).

GB lands a doomstack on my shore and claims Picardie, NGF waltzes all over my defensive line, Spain blockades everything. In a matter of minutes my glorious nation is reduced to cinders.

    /facepalm and Ragequit

This is the exact reason I save my progress whenever I remember and before big decisions. Just today I started a game as France with the intention of blobbing most of continental Europe. I've taken Catalonia from Spain and the Ruhr (always forget the IG name) from Prussia, turning it into a secondary power. Spain had a revolution and so I decided I should risk badboy and take another slice of the Iberian pie. Unfortunately they detected my justification and I got 25.5 infamy. Suddenly most of Europe is at war with me and although my pitiful frog army holds back the Brits at Dunkirk, the rest just collapses in upon itself under the might of fucking Belgium of all people. BELGIUM.

Now I have to go back two years and try again, because fuck that haha.
